Pieces of her.....Peace in the surrender.
In the midst of today's intense struggle, the mere act of rising from bed weighed heavily on her, a daunting task that seemed to carry an unusual burden. The world outside awaited, demanding her presence and the usual routine felt like an insurmountable challenge. Yet, she understood that the weight of regret from remaining motionless would shatter any semblance of purpose she might strive for. Thus, she summoned the strength to get up, mechanically making the bed and preparing her coffee, all while moving through the motions of readiness.
Reciting a mental checklist became her lifeline, each completed task lifting a burden within, an invisible weight dropping away in the arena of daily struggles. Rationalizing peace or understanding seemed futile, so she silenced her thoughts and began chanting, "Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me bless his holy name," a mantra that linked her to an unseen life force, a necessary lifeline grounding her in reality.
Finally, with coffee in hand and tasks accomplished, she stepped out the door. Despite being 15 minutes behind schedule, a content heart and gratitude replaced the chaos that preceded. Quietly, she praised herself for the courage, strength, and resilience exhibited, an internal cheerleader providing a sweet melody of encouragement. A small breath of hope ignited within her, anticipating a good day.
Upon arriving at work, she apologized for her tardiness and honestly shared her recent struggles with showing up to life. Her boss, understanding and compassionate, reassured her, emphasizing the importance of positivity. Relieved, she began her tasks, wearing an earpiece and a beanie, diving into work.
Throughout the day, memories and fears attempted to resurface, leading to a few quiet cries. Yet, she countered each surge with gratitude, thanking God for everything—past, present, and future. In her prayers, she surrendered all expectations for outcomes, finding solace in the stories of great trial and tribulation from the Bible. These tales comforted her, reassuring that, in the end, God brought salvation and displayed his immense power.
Grateful for the trials that strengthened her, she trusted in God's plan, relinquishing the fear of what the future might hold. The day unfolded peacefully, a steady pace prevailing, as if the universe sensed her need for a reprieve. It was a day without overwhelming stressors, a calm in the storm, strengthening her faith for the challenges ahead. The hours slipped away, and before she knew it, she was driving home.
Memories attempted to resurface during the journey, but her heart brimmed with peace and comfort, turning the echoes into mere whispers. At home, she prepared a delicious meal, smiling contentedly as she reflected on the goodness of the day. Her heart resonated with the assurance that more beautiful days awaited, having discovered true peace through surrender—Yahweh Shalom.
