Internal: Finding Peace in Honest Surrender
Internal: Finding Peace in Honest Surrender
There comes a moment in life when the relentless chase—of success, power, approval, or fixing what feels broken—suddenly feels too heavy to bear. For me, that moment arrived quietly but with undeniable force. I gave myself permission to stop chasing the life everyone else told me I needed.
The life of constant achievement, relentless performance, and exhausting self-improvement came to a halt. I laid it all down. No longer striving to “fix” every crack or to mask every pain with a forced smile or hurried remedy.
Because I realized something profound: some things in this life are simply not fixable.
Pretending otherwise—trying to act like everything is fine, or that happiness is always within reach—can become a violence against the soul. It silences the honest grief, the deep wounds, and the real, raw human experience of sadness.
This realization was not defeat. It was surrender.
And from that surrender, the song Internal was born—a song made from honest surrender, from choosing to sit in sadness without shame, and from letting go of the exhausting, endless search for happiness.
Instead of chasing a fleeting joy or trying to patch the pain quickly, I chose to seek something different: peace.
Not the kind of peace that’s forced or shallow, the kind that tells you to “get over it” or “be happy already.”
But the kind of peace God whispers gently into the torn, broken places of the heart:
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on Thee
because he trusteth in Thee.”
— Isaiah 26:3
This verse became my anchor. Not a command to suddenly be okay or “fix” my sorrow, but a loving reminder that peace is possible—even in the middle of sadness—when I choose to rest my mind and heart in Him.
I no longer need to become “great” to prove I’m healing.
I no longer need to “rise above” what broke me to be whole again.
I can be internal—quiet, slow, soft.
I can be broken and loved at the same time.
I can grieve and still trust.
I can simply exist without performance or pretenses.
If you are hurting too, hear this:
You don’t need to impress anyone with your healing.
You don’t need to prove your worth through happiness.
It’s okay to be still.
It’s okay to be sad.
It’s okay to just be.
In fact, you are allowed—to heal in silence, to breathe through your pain, and to exist in grace exactly as you are.
True healing doesn’t always come with fanfare or visible progress.
Sometimes, it is the gentle, quiet choice to hold space for your own heart—to accept its brokenness without judgment, and to trust that peace can still grow there.
Internal is a reminder of that sacred space within us all, where vulnerability is strength, surrender is courage, and peace is a refuge—not in the absence of pain, but alongside it.
You are not alone in this journey.
You are seen, you are loved, and you are enough—just as you are.
Verse to hold close
“He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.”
— Isaiah 40:29
Quote to carry
"Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up."
— Brené Brown
