Chapter 12: "Holy Stillness: The Moment I Stopped Running"

Quote:
"Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes… including you." — Anne Lamott

Verse:
"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." — Exodus 14:14

Anchored Truth (Essence Mindset)

Stillness is not weakness. It is power restrained, divinely aligned. It is the space where running ends and real healing begins.

For so long, I equated movement with growth, with survival. If I wasn’t fixing, doing, striving, or proving—I thought I was failing. But stillness came for me not as a choice, but as a necessity. Life stripped away all distractions, and there I was… raw, motionless, face to face with my own soul.

And what I found in the stillness wasn’t shame or emptiness—but God.

Stillness is where the frantic noise of survival goes silent, and the whisper of divine love becomes loud enough to hear.

Glimpse of the Story

There was a morning when I woke up and didn’t reach for my phone. Didn’t reach for the next task or next justification to exist. I just sat in the quiet. And the quiet held me.

The silence wasn’t comfortable at first. It felt like a void. Like nothingness. Like failure. But in that silence, I felt a presence deeper than anything I’d ever known.

I realized I had been running for decades—from pain, from truth, from the fear that if I ever stopped, I’d disappear. But I didn’t disappear. I emerged.

The world didn’t fall apart when I stopped hustling. My worth didn’t evaporate when I paused. Instead, I began to feel something ancient and holy rising inside of me.

Stillness became my sanctuary. And in that sacred pause, I finally met myself.

Prayer / Love Note:

God,
Thank You for the quiet that heals more than the noise ever could.
Thank You for meeting me not in my performance, but in my presence.
Help me to honor rest—not as laziness, but as alignment.
Let my stillness be worship. Let it be enough.

And when I am tempted to run again, remind me:

Stay alive. Don’t give up. You are needed. You are wanted. You are not alone. Keep going. I love you and I am there with you. Begin again. I love you always and forever.

Amen.

Reflection & Encouragement

Where do you feel most restless? What fear arises when you consider doing nothing?

Stillness may feel like unfamiliar terrain, but it’s in that sacred pause that your soul realigns. Take time today to be with yourself, not as a project, but as a beloved presence.

You are not what you do. You are who you are. And who you are is worthy of love, even in the stillness.
